Aloha! Today we set out on a mission—4 coffee shops in Kona in 4 hours—and we actually pulled it off.
We started at the Brew Block and worked our way through some of our favorite local spots, checking out not just the coffee, but the full experience. We looked at the vibe, parking, local products, food options, and what makes each place unique.
In this video, we visit:
• HICO Coffee (Brew Block) – known for creative drinks like ube lattes and a great social vibe
• Rise Bakery – a go-to for pastries, bread, and a relaxed coffee stop
• Kona Coffee & Tea – a local favorite with strong community roots and great outdoor seating
• KO Coffee / Hamakua Mac Nut Company – right by the pier with ocean views and coffee tastings
• Kona Heaven – one of the best spots to grab a coffee and sit by the ocean
Along the way, we try everything from ube lattes and cold brew to cortados and even a wild “Hawaiian Monster” drink.
We also talk about:
• Where to park (and where validation helps)
• Which spots are best for locals vs visitors
• The difference between Kona coffee and Ka’u coffee
• What makes each place worth your time
If you’re visiting Kona or thinking about moving here, this is a great way to get a feel for the local coffee scene.
If you’ve got a favorite coffee spot we didn’t include, drop it in the comments—we might do a Part 2.
