Hapuna Beach River?

I had a big plan to go to Hapuna Beach today for Mothers Day-I was unaware they had experience pretty bad flooding in the area. Hapuna was closed but we had lunch at the Westin Hapuna and walked down to beach to see the river that cut the beach in half. It was roaring yesterday. We also went to the cove I wanted to swim in and it’s full of dirty water and the beach is littered with goat poop that got washed down. The debris was along the highway near the river went it went ten feet up and came over the highway.
We didn’t get as much rain in Kona, so all of this was rather shocking.
Raining when we left Kohala Coast-hit and sunny in Kona. Two different worlds 30 miles
