On August 8th, 2023, wild fires broke out on both the Kohala Coast on the Big island of Hawaii and West Maui due to low humidity, high winds and plenty of fuel to burn. High winds were associated with passing Hurricane Dora. As devastation hit Lahaina, the wild fires that menaced and burned through the North and South Kohala region of West Hawaii have left a lasting impact of burned trees, but we are very fortunate to have not had a single loss of life or burned out communities.
In this video, we discuss what happened during the three day fire that hit the Kohala Coast AND ways to donate to Maui, for the destruction in Lahaina.
